Installation tips
1. How can I safely add a fuse or circuit breaker between the input terminal of the inverter and the battery? What specifications are recommended?
Adding a fuse or circuit breaker between the input terminal of your inverter and the battery is a good idea. It can help protect your inverter from damage due to an overcurrent condition. The specifications you need to use will depend on the continuous power of the inverter and the lowest input voltage:
Continuous power of the inverter ÷ Lowest input voltage =Fuse ampere, e.g.
3000W 12VDC version: recommed a 300Amp fuse (3000W÷10VDC=300Amp)
3000W 24VDC version: recommed a 150Amp fuse (3000W÷20VDC=150Amp)
3000W 48VDC version: recommed a 75Amp fuse (3000W÷40VDC=75Amp)
2. Why did sparks appear on the cable and the inverter terminal when connecting the battery to the inverter?
When you first connect your inverter to your battery, you may notice some sparks. This is normal, and it is not a sign that your inverter is malfunctioning. The inverter has built-in large capacitors, and a small amount of power is still stored inside them. When the battery cable is connected to the input of the inverter, the sparks are actually a discharge process. So don't worry, your inverter is just doing its job!
3. Why does the inverter output voltage drop continuously or even shut down automatically when running a load?
1). Check to see if you have a fuse or circuit breaker installed in your system. For example, for the 3000W 12VDC version, a 300 amp fuse is usually recommended between the inverter and the battery. If the fuse size is too small, it will limit the input current.
2). If you are using standard cables, please check to ensure that all 4 cables are used or the output will only be about half. If you are using your own cables, please make sure that they are larger than AWG 4, or thicken them if they are longer than 24 inches. This will ensure that you receive the full output from your cables.
3). Before connecting, make sure your battery system has enough capacity to support your load. For 3000 watt 12VDC inverters, choose a battery system with at least 300AH or more. When the DC LED reading drops while the load is running, your battery capacity may be too small to power the load.
